Last Stop

A known misconception: Seattle or Washington State in general has the highest suicide rate because of its weather. I ‘googled’ it up and here are some fun tidbits I found. (I felt like a myth buster when I saw this.lol.)

  • The western states have the highest suicide rates, with Nevada leading the nation at 23.93/100,000” (nice to know after I finally decided to move there)

  • Most of western Washington has a marine climate, with cool summers and mild winters. In eastern Washington the Cascades act as a barrier against the Pacific winds. As a result this section has a continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Eastern Washington is also much drier, with only about 10 inches (25 centimeters) of precipitation a year in the south-central part of the state.

I visited Washington (Milton) to meet my sister’s family. This was my last stop for the summer. I was wondering what someone could do on a rainy day and if the weather could really affect my euphoric summer mood. After three days I got the answer to my question:

Photos taken by Rick Henderson (my sisters fiance)

"Do not feed wildlife. Might be carrier of disease."

I couldnt help it.

You are more likely to commit suicide than be killed by a terrorist.

Meaning:

You are more of a danger to yourself than the terrorists.
